Disasters Affect People of Low Socioeconomic Status (SES)
This issue of the Supplemental Research
Bulletin explores how people in poverty, with low incomes,
and of low SES experience disasters—and, in doing so, aims to help
disaster behavioral health officials include and account for these
individuals in disaster planning and preparedness, response, and recovery.
The issue also features recommendations for policy changes to foster
increased resilience for low SES individuals and communities.
