We are accepting applications for a Webmaster.  This is a part-time wage position with a 28 hour work week (up to 1456 hours May 1 – April 30) and is not eligible to receive employee benefits.  The duties for this position include: Conducting a top-down review of the VDEM website and developing a strategy and work plan to improve the site; Developing and implementing plans to enhance division web pages within the vaemergency.gov framework as needed; Conducting the agency’s efforts for Section 508 accessibility compliance for new and existing web pages; posting content on behalf of the divisions and regional teams; training authorized staff from other divisions to perform simple website updates; testing website(s) across browsers, operating systems, and devices (including mobile display of website), reviewing security of the website; and addressing any user complaints. 

All VDEM employees are designated as essential personnel and may be required to work during emergency situations, such as inclement weather, and natural or man-made disasters/events as directed. This may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee’s official Employee Work Profile (job description).

Qualifications:
·        Knowledge of HTML, PHP, Javascript, Drupal and other web content management systems.
·        Knowledge of current trends in web and mobile technology.
·        Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
·        Skilled in website design to include Section 508 accessibility compliance for the blind and visually impaired.
·        Skilled in writing for web users and developing mobile applications.
·        Ability to research, plan, implement and evaluate web campaigns, meet deadlines, manage multiple projects, work independently and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
·        Ability to complete required agency training within first 12 months of employment.
·        Ability to work 12-hour shifts during a State of Emergency/declared disaster.
·        Demonstrated experience managing public-facing websites
·        Knowledge of web analytics and Search Engine Optimization
·        Knowledge of Word Press and web design and development for public facing websites
·        Proven ability to develop content (written, graphic and video) for presentation on external and internal websites
·        Demonstrated experience adapting content for effectiveness with a web audience
·        Ability to work under tight deadlines
·        Proficiency in HTML/CSS, XML; knowledge of SQL and Javascript
·        Contract management experience to supervise vendors providing web support and hosting services
·        Demonstrated experience optimizing web content to meet Section 508 accessibility requirements

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in information systems, public relations, communications, visual arts, or a related discipline is preferred. An equivalent combination of training and experience may substitute for a degree.

Supplemental Information: Salary commensurate with education and experience. The selected candidate is subject to a background investigation including but not limited to a fingerprint-based criminal history check; Division of Motor Vehicles; employment verification and degree verification.  A valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record is required.

We are accepting applications for an Administrative Assistant.  This is a part-time wage position with a 28 hour work week (up to 1456 hours August 1 – June 30) and is not eligible to receive employee benefits.  The duties for this position include: reviewing and editing documents, attending meetings and taking notes/distributing minutes, arranging travel, VEST roster maintenance, creating calendar appointments for the VEST Training, creating and distributing EOC access badges, ordering supplies, maintaining supplies and printers, creating and managing appointments on the EOC calendar, making small purchases and reconciling those purchases, filing and completing monthly automobile forms for mileage and gasoline purchases, purchasing food during EOC Activation, and assisting with weekly VEST training instances including exercises.

Qualifications:  Considerable knowledge of English, grammar, and punctuation.  Knowledge of the principles required to maintain a filing system.  Demonstrated ability to complete multiple, complex administrative assignments with minimal supervision; ability to perform a wide variety of administrative assignments.  Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office software.  Knowledge of state purchasing requirements.  Ability to review and edit documents. 

Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalency. Associates Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a related discipline is preferred. An equivalent combination of training and experience may substitute for a degree.
