• Duties Help Help Duties Summary This Emergency Management Specialist position is located in the Continuity Assurance Section, Security and Emergency Planning Staff (SEPS), Justice Management Division, U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).

SEPS is responsible for establishing and maintaining department wide security policy and programs, as well as directing the security compliance review program for the DOJ. Learn more about this agency Responsibilities As an Emergency Management Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating all emergency preparedness activities for the Justice Management Division and the DOJ Headquarters Leadership Offices, including plans related to continuity of operations, continuity of government, occupant emergency planning, and pandemic planning.

This position also develops and coordinates testing and exercising of emergency plans, issues guidance on continuity of operations, overseeing incident responses by conducting facility assessments to evaluate risks and associated levels of protection, occupant emergency planning and pandemic planning.

Qualifications To qualify for the GS-13, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled.  

Such experience must include:
 1) coordinating emergency preparedness activities;
 2) developing and coordinating the testing and exercising of emergency plans; and
 3) developing, evaluating, and implementing emergency management guidance and policy.
