SALARY RANGE:
$51,106.00-$84,324.00
Job Summary: This position serves as a primary planner for the Emergency Management
Program through development, coordination and implementation of comprehensive
plans, procedures, and systems to ensure an efficient and effective all-hazards
level of preparedness and response to major emergencies and disasters
throughout the County. Additionally, during major emergencies and disasters,
CEMA opens the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to meet the needs of the
County. The Emergency Management Coordinator works under the direction of the
CEMA Director to support the operational readiness of the EOC and serves as a
liaison for the agency with local, state, and federal partners. The Emergency
Management Coordinator promotes public awareness of emergency preparedness for
the citizens of Chatham County. The position performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in
Emergency Management, Homeland Security, or Public Administration, as well as a
minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Emergency Management, Public Safety,
or the military. Consideration will be given for an equivalent combination of
formal training and on-the-job experience. A valid Georgia Driver’s License is
required.
Applicants should demonstrate
effective oral, written and interpersonal communications skills, be detailed
oriented, and be able to remain calm under stressful situations. Experience
with project management and success with meeting deadlines are preferred.
Specific License or
Certification Required: Applicants must possess
or be able to obtain and maintain the following licenses and/or certifications:
Georgia Class F Driver’s License within six months of employment; Georgia
Emergency Manager Certification within 24 months of employment.
Note: During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be
required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
