women for water Supports Global Grassroots in Rwanda

women for water is supporting Global Grassroots, an organization dedicated to advancing gender equity in Rwanda. Together, we are mobilizing women-led water ventures to transform communities through clean water access, while addressing violence, equity, and COVID-19.

In response to COVID-19 in Rwanda, Global Grassroots installed ten temporary handwashing stations near water points, distributed soap-making supplies to over 8,200 people, and conducted hygiene training on handwashing and COVID-19 prevention to keep community members safe and healthy.

UN Women's 10th Anniversary. June 2020

UN Women's 10th Anniversary

Dear Friends,

10 years ago, on 2nd July 2010, the UN General Assembly voted to establish UN Women to accelerate progress in meeting the needs of women and girls worldwide. Given the current COVID-19 realities and the unprecedented times we are in, we have decided to keep the marking of our anniversary low-key, with more opportunities for commemoration next year.

However, we would be very grateful for any virtual Birthday messages on Social Media, either from your principal or from your organizational accounts.

Here are a few sample Tweets and the links for the corresponding social media assets. Please feel free to use the below, or send us your own unique messages:

  • Today, we wish @UN_Women a very 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐝𝐚𝐲🥳🎉🎂 #GenerationEquality

  • #OnThisDay 10 years ago, @UN_Women was created. They are promoting women’s empowerment, women’s rights and gender equality all over the world. Congratulations on this milestone! #GenerationEquality

Food Security, Climate Change: Climate change response strategies for agriculture : challenges and opportunities for the 21st century

United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) Webinar ‘A stocktake of global humanitarian assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic’.

Save the date: A stocktake of global humanitarian assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic
Dear colleague,
Save the Date: July 22nd, 2020
2-3:30pm BST | 3-4:30pm CEST | 9-10:30am EDT
Development Initiatives (DI) and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) are pleased to invite you to attend the upcoming webinar ‘A stocktake of global humanitarian assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic’. The webinar will include a panel discussion on humanitarian support to the pandemic response, and will mark the launch of DI’s Global Humanitarian Assistance Report 2020.
The Covid-19 pandemic presents an unprecedented challenge to the humanitarian system in both scale and complexity. It impacts those in and at risk of humanitarian crisis, as well as the governments, economies and institutions that have historically played a key role in international humanitarian responses.
Within this challenging global context, the Global Humanitarian Assistance Report 2020 provides a concise overview of the humanitarian financing landscape in 2019 and shares analysis of emerging trends and issues in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic response.
The webinar will include a presentation by DI unpacking key facts and findings from the report, and contextualising the response to the Covid-19 pandemic within the wider crisis financing landscape. A panel of experts, including a senior OCHA representative, will then be invited to engage in a Q&A and share their unique perspectives on financing the response to the Covid-19 pandemic and the wider implications for crisis financing.
We welcome audience members to submit questions before the event, please send your questions to amy.cox@devinit.org.
A speaker announcement will be forthcoming – please keep a look out!

With best wishes,
Development Initiatives
United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs
