Classification Level Pay Structure:
The Alachua County Fire Rescue pay structure includes classification levels defined by both educational and length of service with the department. New employees will be
classified in the following manner upon hire:
Firefighter Trainee (Level 0):
This classification includes employees who do not meet the minimum requirements for Firefighter Level 1 because they do not possess a current State of Florida Certificate
of Compliance and/or a State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification. Employees in the Level 0 classification will be paid $10.8174 hourly/36,000.31
annually and will be required to obtain both certifications within the first 12-months of employment.
Firefighter (Level 1):
This classification includes employees who meet all of the minimum qualifications for Firefighter Level 1 which includes a current State of Florida Certificate of Compliance
and a State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification. Employees in this classification will be paid $12.3198 hourly/$41,000.29 annually.
Paramedic Incentive Pay:
Alachua County Fire Rescue offers a $7500 annual incentive in addition to the annual salary to all applicable bargaining unit employees who possess a State of Florida
Paramedic certification and receive medical clearance certification by the Alachua County Medical Director.

An employee assigned to this classification is the supervisor on an ALS ambulance who is responsible for rendering initial evaluations of patients and performing basic

Classification Level Pay Structure:
The Alachua County Fire Rescue pay structure includes classification levels. For external candidates pay levels are defined by status of fire certification. Internal candidates,
levels are defined by fire certification and length of service. New employees will be classified in the following.
Paramedic Incentive Pay:
Alachua County Fire Rescue offers a $7500 annual incentive in addition to the annual salary to all applicable bargaining unit employees who possess a State of Florida
Paramedic certification and receive medical clearance certification by the Alachua County Medical Director.
Rescue Lieutenant (Level 1)
This classification includes employees who meet most minimum requirements but do not possess a current State of Florida Certificate of Compliance. Employees in the
Level 1 classification will be paid $13.5712 hourly/$45,164.95 annually plus $ 7500.00 annual Paramedic Incentive Pay.
Rescue Lieutenant (Level 2)
This classification includes employees who meet all of the minimum requirements including a current State of Florida Certificate of Compliance. Employees in the Level 2
classification will be paid $13.7291 hourly/$45,900.11 annually plus $7500.00 annual Paramedic Incentive Pay.
Rescue Lieutenant (Level 3)
This classification includes current Alachua County Fire Rescue employees who meet all of the minimum qualifications and have one year’s experience as a Firefighter
Paramedic with Alachua County Fire Rescue. Employees in the Level 3 classification will be paid $14.0625 hourly/$46,800.00 plus $7500 annual Paramedic Incentive Pay.
