Job Responsibilities: In this position, you will be responsible for supporting the NWC (National Watch Center) and its related functions and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) initiatives and operations. Typical assignments include: 

  • Performing key program implementation of the FEMA GIS initiatives and operations.
  • Performing activities in support of the NWC involving the agency's programs, including providing key project assistance in the development of program standards, doctrine, training, exercises, FEMA Qualification System (FQS) requirements, and program awareness throughout the agency.
  • Serving as a key resource on highly critical and complex geospatial program initiatives, with this role requiring frequent coordination with internal and external working groups, and incorporating a wide range of stakeholder concerns in formulating and recommending solutions to problems that have agency-wide implications and may also impact GIS capabilities across departments and agencies.

Qualifications/Requirements: You qualify for this position at the GS-14 level (starting salary $126,233) if you possess the following: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-13) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience.  Specialized experience for this position includes: 

  • Analyzing programs and provides expert advice on complex areas related to diversity, equity, accessibility, or inclusion; and
  • Applying concepts of change management to create actionable strategies and courses of action that improve programs and services; and
  • Leading initiatives by building strategic partnerships, working closely with stakeholder groups, or managing cross-cutting coordination efforts
