The leader for change in any system MAY NOT be within the system. 

Someone outside of the system that sees it from a different 21st Century solution perspective.

Ever notice that the same issues and problems arise from those within the system that goes from city to city, jurisdiction to jurisdiction?   A system can become so complex (complex-complex system) that it becomes unmanageable at some point.

CHANGE THE PARADIGM.  Think of a leader outside of the system.  A simple-simple or simple-complex system may be needed.  Just a thought.

Because of all we learned this school year, we are better positioned than ever to take on long-standing challenges in our schools.  Today, to help us build on our progress, we kicked off the search for the next permanent chancellor of DC Public Schools (DCPS). As we go through this process, the community's thoughts, ideas, and concerns will be essential in helping us make the right choice for our students, our families, and DCPS.  In the weeks to come, we will host community forums, but we also ask that you submit feedback at ourschools.dc.gov. Member Duties : A member of FEMA Corps will be trained in and perform general and specialized tasks in the field of emergency management and disaster recovery. Members will be dedicated to FEMA deployments in areas of logistics, community relations, individual and public assistance, planning, preparedness, and recovery activities. FEMA Corps is a 12 month commitment and members are required to participate fully. Members must be able to serve effectively with a team of individuals from, and in, communities of diverse cultural, ethnic, economic, geographic, and educational backgrounds. Members must be able to communicate, read, and write effectively in the English language with peers, supervisors, staff and others, perform in stressful environments and adverse weather conditions, serve long hours beyond an eight hour workday, live in a communal setting, be flexible to sudden, frequent changes, be drug free and maintain a drug-free environment, and participate in activities that improve personal skills.

Exciting training event coming up!!   

The Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) will host an INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT THEME WEEK, 14 October – 20 October 2018, on the CDP campus in Anniston, AL. As you may know, the CDP offers Train-the-Trainer courses, which recognizes those who graduate as Indirect Trainers for their home state in accordance with the State/Territory/Tribal Training point of contact directive. The Indirect Training Program (ITP) provides Indirect Trainers with administrative support to deliver the specific course(s) linked to each Train-the-Trainer course. This administrative support is at no cost to trainers nor their organization, and includes student training materials and certificates of completion. Gullah/Geechee Nation posted: "In spite of numerous dialogues with the staff and board of trustees of Penn Center, Inc., a fence is currently being erected at the national landmark historic district which is part of the Reconstruction Era National Monument.  The Gullah/Geechee communit" New post on Gullah/Geechee Nation Penn Center Drives a Stake Through the Heart of the Gullah/Geechee Community by Gullah/Geechee Nation In spite of numerous dialogues with the staff and board of trustees of Penn Center, Inc., a fence is currently being erected at the national landmark historic district which is part of the Reconstruction Era National Monument.  The Gullah/Geechee community and residents of St. Helena Island repeatedly stated that they did NOT want Penn Center gated off from the community and wanted it to remain an open and welcoming public historic area.  The board of trustees and staff have made statements in the media about reasoning for a fence which has been accurately refuted by the community, yet Penn Center has begun placing stakes in the ground to erect a fence and gate out the community. Anyone that has learned the history of the displacement of Gullah/Geechee communities are well aware of the fact that gated areas are the primary mechanism used against the community.  The gates promote exclusion no matter what reasoning may be provided about them.   The native Gullah/Geechee family of St. Helena Island, SC in the Gullah/Geechee Nation has made it clear that fences and gates are in opposition to their culture and their lifestyle.  Yet, an institution that their ancestors built is now becoming a gated area. In response to the stakes that have been driven through the heart of the community, protesting has begun. This slideshow requires JavaScript.
