Internship Opportunity: Spring 2019. New York City (NYCEM)

Division/Unit:  Operations/Operations Planning
Supervisor:    Kevin Clark
Number of Interns Needed: 1
Preferred Education Level:  Undergraduate or Graduate

Description of Project/ Intern Responsibilities:
Take direction and directly assist the Intern Supervisor in production of assigned aspects of plans, programs, and projects.  This would involve writing, editing, meeting coordination, and communications with assigned groups or individuals. The range of projects and responsibilities include:
Ø  Special event operational plan development (Fleet Week, large public concerts and parades, race events, UNGA / VIP visits, etc.)
Ø  Aspects of coastal storm and other emergency plans
Ø  Community outreach program support
Ø  Interagency briefings and meetings for related plans, programs and projects
Ø  Development of training and standard operating procedures

Interested candidates should be prepared to discuss how their career and academic interests relate to emergency management operations, especially how their abilities and skills could match available assignments.

Requirements/special skills needed:
Successful candidates will be in their third or fourth year of undergraduate study, or pursuing advance degrees in government policy, international relations, law, applied science or any field with a bearing on emergency plans / programs / project specific disciplines
