In August 2019, USAID
chose Abt to manage its flagship initiative in integrated health systems
strengthening, the Local Health System Sustainability Project (LHSS).
Today, the LHSS Project is working in more than 20 countries in Africa,
Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. In celebration of almost two
years collaborating with governments and partners around the globe, we’re
highlighting some key news from the LHSS Project.
One year ago, a
planet-wide effort to stem the spread of COVID-19 and scale up capacity
to care for stricken patients had just roared to life. Today, countries
face an equally urgent imperative: to vaccinate their populations and end
the pandemic. LHSS is supporting efforts in Colombia, Kyrgyz Republic,
and Tajikistan.
Learn about all the LHSS
Project’s exciting work on its newly launched website. Interested in LHSS
activities that promote migrant health in Colombia, or strengthen mobile
HIV services in Dominican Republic, or support countries responding to
the COVID-19 pandemic? Explore the site for all this and more!
The LHSS Project helps
underserved and marginalized people gain access to high-quality,
essential health services by working with country partners to strengthen
– and improve the sustainability of – national and community health
systems. Globally, the project generates evidence, resources, and
insights to help governments everywhere make progress on common health
system challenges.
