SBA Seeks Nominations for 2013 Small Business Week Awards

NEWARK, NJ---The U.S. Small Business Administration is searching for the next New Jersey Small Business Person of the Year.  This year’s winner will be honored during National Small Business Week May 19th – 24th, 2013.

According to Al. Titone, SBA New Jersey district director, nominations are being sought for the 2013 New Jersey Small Business Person of the Year Award.  Thanks in part to a new web portal http://nationalsmallbusinessweek.sba.gov/user that the agency launched this year, SBA will now accept nomination packages online for the very first time.

“The portal will make it that much easier for small businesses to find nomination guidelines, forms and gain access to complete their nomination package online,” said Titone. “We are also allowing small business owners the option of submitting a hard copy of the nomination to the New Jersey district office.”

"Each year the president designates a week to honor and recognize the achievements of the nation's 27 million small business owners," said Titone. "We are looking to individuals, local chambers of commerce, banks, trade associations and other community-based business organizations to submit nominations and sponsor candidates."

The SBA will recognize each state Small Business Person of the Year representative at its annual National Small Business Week celebration in Washington, D.C., where the 2013 National Small Business Person of the Year will be introduced.
In addition to submitting a nomination through SBA’s online portal, nominations may also be submitted to: Harry Menta of the SBA New Jersey district office at Two Gateway Center, Suite 1501- Newark, NJ  07102.  The deadline for all nominations is Thursday, January 3, 2013.  For more information on eligibility criteria and guidelines contact Harry Menta at (973) 645-6064 or e-mail him at harry.menta@sba.gov
