Inclusiva is a Chilean organization member of our network that works on capacity building in topics related the inclusion of people with disabilities in disaster management and reduction, widely known in South America.

The COVID-19 pandemic is disproportionately impacting individuals with disabilities directly through coronavirus infection rates and indirectly through other factors including disruption of services. The ARP dedicates increased funding for several programs, and in this resource, CSG analysts explore how states can utilize the Coronavirus State and Local Recovery Fund to build a more inclusive workforce.

Learn about what's happening in Emergency Preparedness, Disaster Risk Reduction, Sustainable Development Goals, Climate Justice, Humanitarian Action, Community Resilience, Article 11 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Disability Inclusion Strategy, Building Back Better and other global disaster and disability initiatives. Hear an update on what Disabled Persons Organizations are working on and how to get involved.

Learning objectives:

Learn what disability led organizations around the world are working on in response to current disasters and planning for the ones that will surely follow.
Learn how you can become more involved in these urgent and vital initiatives.

Presenters:

Marcie Roth Roth is the Executive Director of the World Institute on Disability and a global leader on disability and disaster. She has focused on improving outcomes for disaster-impacted people with disabilities, Disability Led Organizations and communities for 20 years.

German Parodi and Shaylin Sluzalis are the Co-Directors of the Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies leading in disability rights community organizing, disability-led disaster response, and empowering community resilience and optimizing outcomes for all nationwide and across the world. They have been leading The Partnership since 2019 - ensuring equal access and full inclusion before, during, and after disasters.

Carlos Kaiser is the Director of ONG Inclusiva and is Global Focal Point for Inclusive Disaster Risk and Disability Management. He is also founder of the Global COVID-19 and Disability Group and the COVID-19 and Disability Group of Chile.

All four speakers work closely together on global disability and disaster initiatives and they jointly cofounded the Global Alliance for Disaster Resource Acceleration in 2020 to accelerate resources to disaster impacted Disability Led Organizations where and when they are needed most.

IEM’s Short-Term COVID-19 Projections provide an accurate 7-day projection of confirmed cases for operational and logistical planning.

Leveraging over 15 years of support to HHS for medical consequence modeling and our proprietary artificial intelligence (AI) models, IEM believes that our COVID-19 model outputs can be used to assist localities and their medical facilities to better prepare for an increase in hospitalizations, to better plan for and locate drive-through testing facilities, and to determine where increased levels of transmission may be occurring. Our AI model provides an accurate 7-day projections that can be used for operational and logistical planning.
