Come, Let Us Build A New World Together: Fifty Years after the Mississippi Summer Project Join us for a three day conference that will focus on the creation of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and lessons from the Mississippi Summer Project for youth activists today. Speakers include Freedom Rider and SNCC staff member John Hardy, “Faces of Freedom Summer” photographer Herbert Randall, and Bree Newsome, the young African American woman who removed the confederate flag from the grounds of the South Carolina State House last June. The interactive conference also includes panels, discussion circles, films, and musical performances by the SNCC Freedom Singers, the Mark Durham Trio and others.
