 Board Safely LLC is a virtual, nurse-supervised COVID test certification platform allowing test-takers to receive reliable, medically supervised antigen test results quickly and conveniently, for travel and gatherings from the comfort of their own homes or hotels.

College scholarships for African American students. February 2022

Blacks at Microsoft Scholarship—$20,000: Blacks at Microsoft (BAM) is a company-sponsored employee network dedicated to supporting the continued growth and development of black employees at Microsoft Corporation. Applicants for the Blacks at Microsoft Scholarship must be high-school seniors of African descent (for example, African-American, African, or Ethiopian); must plan to attend a four-year college or university in the fall of the year following high-school graduation and plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, or select business programs (such as finance, business administration, or marketing). A minimum 3.3 GPA and financial need is required. The deadline to apply is March 8, 2022. Click here to learn more.

ABA Diversity Scholarship—$5,000: The ABA Diversity Scholarship focuses on broadening the number of traditionally underrepresented groups in the management and operation ranks of the transportation, travel, and tourism industry. Eligible candidates must have a declared major or course of study relevant to the transportation, travel, and tourism industry. Applicants are required to submit a 500-word essay discussing the role they hope to play in advancing the future of the transportation, motorcoach, travel, and tourism/hospitality industry. Actuarial Diversity Scholarship—$4,000: The Actuarial Diversity Scholarship promotes diversity within the profession through an annual scholarship program for Black/African American, Latinx, Native North American and Pacific Islander students. The scholarship award recognizes and encourages the academic achievements of full-time undergraduate students pursuing a degree that may lead to a career in the actuarial profession. Scholarships range from $1,000-$4,000. Each applicant must have at least one birth parent who is; Black/African American, Latinx, Native North American or Pacific Islander. Joseph A. Towles African Study Abroad Scholarship—$10,000: The Dr. Joseph A. Towles African Study Abroad Scholarship will provide financial assistance for students at UNCF institutions to learn at an established university with the continent of Africa. Eligible applicants must be African-American, have a 3.0 GPA, be a legal US resident, and be either a sophomore, junior, or master’s-level student. The deadline to apply is Nov. 14, 2022. Psychology Scholarships—Amount varies: Psychology scholarships help pay for the costs of earning a degree in the field. A variety of organizations and schools award scholarships based on financial need, merit, diversity, and other criteria. Morgan Stanley Richard B. Fisher Scholarship Program—Amount varies: The Richard B. Fisher Scholarship program is a competitive undergraduate scholarship program established to provide outstanding black, Hispanic, Native American, and LGBT students with a financial award for exceptional academic achievement and a summer internship the summer prior to their junior or senior year in college. NACME Scholars (Block Grant) Program—$16,000: NACME provides block grants to colleges and universities that, in turn, award the money to talented African American, American Indian, and Latino students enrolled in engineering programs as part of their financial aid packages. The NACME’s Scholars (Block Grant) Program provides minority college scholarship support in the form of a lump sum grant to partner institutions who enroll students from three sources – first-year students identified by NACME or the partner universities, transfer students from two-year colleges, and currently enrolled students who have completed at least one year of engineering study. National Black MBA Association Undergraduate Scholarships—Amount varies: Financially active members of the National Black MBA Association who are U.S. citizens may apply for undergraduate scholarships. In order to apply, applicants must be a student in their first, second, third, or fourth year enrolled full-time at a participating accredited college or university at the time of award. Ron Brown Scholar Program—$40,000: The Ron Brown Scholar Program (RBSP) honors the legacy of Ronald H. Brown through a selective scholarship program that advances higher education for community-minded and intellectually gifted African Americans. RBSP competitively awards Ron Brown Scholars four-year $40,000 scholarships ($10,000 each year). High school senior applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need. The Jackie Robinson Foundation—$30,000: JRF Scholars receive grants of up to $30,000 over four years to complement the financial aid they receive from their colleges or universities. In addition, Scholars are financially sponsored to attend JRF’s annual four-day “Mentoring and Leadership Conference” in New York City and other regional events throughout the year. To be eligible for a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship, an applicant must: Be a graduating, minority high school senior; Be a United States citizen; Present evidence of financial need; Demonstrate a record of academic excellence; Demonstrate leadership potential and a dedication to community service; Submit an official SAT and/or ACT test exam score from junior or senior year* ; Plan to attend an accredited and approved 4-year college within the United States or affiliated with a United States-based college or university; Not possess a degree from, or be enrolled in, a 2 or 4–year college when applying. This month we are celebrating Black History Month and with that we would like to kick off our  first newsletter of the year. 

 

Our February Newsletter contains our efforts in the African Immigrant community as well as Black/African communities in Southern California in regards to mental health, COVID, immigration services, and our upcoming events and ongoing projects including our tobacco-free campaign.
