Boston Man Sentenced to Two Years in Prison for Benefit Fraud

Benefit fraud

A Hyde Park man was sentenced in federal court in Boston for using a stolen identity to fraudulently obtain government assistance benefits. He was sentenced to two years and one day in prison and three years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay restitution of $29,051 to the Department of Unemployment Assistance and $7,230 to the Department of Transitional Assistance.

Ohio Man Sentenced for His Part in $7 Million COVID-19 Relief Fraud Scheme

An Ohio man was sentenced to 33 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to defrauding the Small Business Administration (SBA) of approximately $1.2 million in Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program under Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
