As part of our nonprofit corporate social responsibility with our association HQ in Ward 8 we have a voice in community engagement.  Our focus were in the area of decreasing the food desert within the community by promoting urban farming, supermarkets, and food dispensing facilities not alcohol consumption.

Commissioner Adofo Prevents Liquor Store from coming to Ward 8 On November 2, 2020 the DC Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration held a hearing and dismissed Wonder Mart, LLC's application for a liquor license in Ward 8. I would like to thank everyone that helped make this protest successful. It was a collective effort. This is a major victory for the #PublicSafety and #PublicHealth of #Ward8.  There are an excessive amount of stores in Ward 8 that provide mind altering substances within close proximity to schools and recreation centers. This puts our children at great risk. The Child Care Subsidy Program offers families a wide range of child care options. The variety of schedules and types of programs enable families to choose the setting that best meets their needs.
