Environmental Justice And Climate Corps Internship

The Deep South
Center for Environmental Justice (DSCEJ) is continuing to accept
applications for the HBCU Environmental Justice and Climate Corps
Internship. Five interns representing five Gulf Coast states will
immerse themselves in a hands-on research to action project working
with a partner community based organization disproportionately impacted
by environmental hazards and climate change.
The five Gulf
Coast communities are New Orleans, LA, Houston, TX, Gulfport, MS, Mobile,
AL and Pensacola, FL.

The HBCU
Environmental Justice and Climate Corps Internship will develop the
capacity of HBCU students to become active leaders in community issues of
environmental justice and climate change; provide a comprehensive
community engagement plan for the transfer of knowledge to partner
communities; and facilitate the dissemination of environmental justice
and climate change information within the partner communities.

The intern will conduct research in one of
the following areas:

Environmental Justice
·
Climate Change
·
Food Security
·
Environmental Health Disparities
·
Environmental Policy
|
|
Qualifications
·
Have
a passionate interest in environmental justice and climate change
advocacy.
·
Attend
a Historically Black College and University (HBCU)
·
Rising
undergraduate Junior or above; Graduate Student
·
3.0
GPA or above
|
|
Skills
·
Strong interpersonal and communication
skills
·
Highly organized with strong attention
to detail
·
Ability to meet deadlines and take
initiative, assist others and resolve problems
·
Excellent time management and planning
skills
·
Must be able to attend internship
in-person
|
