CDPH OFFICE OF
HEALTH EQUITY PROGRAM UPDATES

CDPH Office of Health Equity's Gender Health Equity Unit
Announces Funding Opportunity
The Gender Health Equity Unit within the Office of Health
Equity (OHE) recently released a Request for Applications (RFA) for the
LBTQ Health Equity Initiative: Healthcare Access and Community Outreach
Program. This initiative seeks to address the well-documented health
inequities experienced by LBTQ Californians that result from a range of
challenges, including systemic anti-LBTQ bias, lack of culturally
responsive care, and lack of medical services and research tailored to
lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer women as well as transgender
men, non-binary, and gender non-conforming persons. Existing inequities
and other factors such as higher rates of poverty and homelessness also
put LBTQ people at greater vulnerability to
climate-related disasters.
Funding will provide an opportunity to administer
community-based projects focused on healthcare access and outreach and
education for LBTQ communities. CDPH will fund four contracts comprised
of a consortia of community-based partner organizations over a two-year
period, with awards totaling approximately $1.9 million per contract. The
application deadline is April
22, 2022. Questions can be submitted to LBTQInitiative@cdph.ca.gov
and official responses to questions and comments will be posted on the Gender Health Equity Unit's Funding Opportunities
page.
