All Hands on Deck! The U.S. Farm Bill 2023 to 2028. Farm Bill Reauthorization Process. Berkeley Food Institute.

Will food insecurity be one of the cubs of the bear, just as the COVID-19 pandemic was considered a cub.

Or will food insecurity be the bear.  If you can’t outrun the cubs how will you outrun the bear.

BFI Policy Director Talks Farm Bill and Food Policy in Recent Edible Education Lecture

Earlier this month, BFI Policy Director Sakeenah Shabazz and former Faculty Director Dr. Kris Madsen shared the stage at Edible Education 101. Each presented a lecture before engaging in a conversation with students. Among the topics discussed, Dr. Madsen spoke on leveraging research for policy, while Sakeenah provided a primer on the “Super Bowl” for food and ag policy experts: the 2023 Farm Bill. For those who missed it, this is a must-watch if you’re looking to brush up on the Farm Bill reauthorization process.

“We are now faced with the fact that tomorrow is today.  We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now.  In this unfolding conundrum of life and history there is such a thing as being too late.  Procrastination is still the thief of time.  Life often leaves us standing bare, naked and dejected with a lost opportunity.
This may well be mankind’s last chance to choose between chaos or community.”

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., ‘Where Are We Going From Here:  Chaos or Community’.
