Emergency Management Coordinator

Do you have experience in Emergency Management or Emergency Services?
Interested in helping plan for disasters, natural or manmade? The City of
Champaign seeks qualified candidates for a 30 hour per week opportunity as an
Emergency Management Coordinator in the Fire Department. This position is
funded for two years from the date of hire.

Non-Union Position

LOCATION:  Onsite

Responsibilities of Position
The Emergency Management Coordinator is the City’s subject matter expert in
emergency and disaster preparedness, planning, and response. In this newly
created position, they will complete an all-hazards threat analysis and use the
results to drive the development and implementation of organization-wide
emergency operations and disaster services policies and plans and identification of
Emergency Operations Center needs. They will train City employees and
collaborate with staff from other agencies on emergency operations coordination.

Required Qualifications
  • Education equivalent to a high school diploma or equivalent. Completed coursework without a diploma or certificate will be considered.
  • Progressively responsible related experience in an emergency management program including training in emergency management and incident command.
  • Experience working within an Incident Command System or related fire service experience.
  • Possession of, or the ability to attain within a timeframe approved by the Fire Chief or designee, National Incident Management System ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 and 800 certifications and a working knowledge of appropriate utilization of NIMS forms.
  • Ability to work productively with minimal direct supervision.
  • Current state-issued driver’s license and good driving record.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary coursework in public administration, emergency management, environmental health, or business administration.
  • Office of the State Fire Marshal Instructor I or comparable certification.
Drug screening, driving abstract, and criminal background check will be required.
The annual starting salary range is $55,648.01 - $63,351.05
