The December issue of Alliance magazine explores the role of philanthropy in crises and suggests that a proactive rather than a reactive philanthropic approach is the way ahead. The issue was guest-edited by CDP President and CEO Patty McIlreavy and Vice President Regine A. Webster.    The magazine features two articles written by Patty and Regine. Patty discussed the current state of disaster philanthropy and how existing narratives in the practice of philanthropy in the wake of crises undermine the effectiveness and the credibility of the sector. Regine sat down with Google's Alex Díaz to discuss lessons learned in disaster response, including medium- and long-term funding strategies.

With Artemis missions, NASA will collaborate with commercial and international partners and establish the first long-term presence on the Moon while landing the first woman and first person of color using innovative technologies to explore more of the lunar surface than ever before. NASA will use what is learned on and around the Moon to take the next giant leap: sending the first astronauts to Mars to maintain American leadership in exploration while building a global alliance and exploring deep space for the benefit of all. The purpose of the December New York Space Business Roundtable is to better understand how Artemis and a host of other NASA led missions and initiatives will pave the way for public private partnerships to enlist American entrepreneurship to open up this new frontier to commercial enterprise.  We are honored to welcome Jim Free, Associate Administrator for Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters, to help us understand NASA’s long-term goals for the Artemis project. Jim will be joined by Chris Stott, SSPI Chair Emeritus and Founder, Chair and CEO of Lonestar Data Holdings Inc.  The Roundtable will begin as it does every month with the SpaceNews Significant Digits Report.
