Volunteers needed

April 2021

Hello New Orleans,

We're reaching out to invite you to participate in the City's hurricane evacuation exercise on Friday, April 30th.

While we have no intention of slowing down COVID-19 vaccine efforts, we also look ahead to the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season, which begins in June. As we experienced with last year's record-breaking hurricane season, other emergencies do not stop, even during a global pandemic. We're planning ahead to ensure that we are prepared for any storms that may come our way this summer & fall.

Next week, we're hosting a small scale dry run, or “functional exercise” of a mandatory hurricane evacuation, to test our City-Assisted Evacuation (CAE) plan, and we are seeking volunteers for this effort. City-Assisted Evacuation is a large-scale life-saving emergency operation designed to help our most vulnerable neighbors evacuate to a safe shelter ahead of a major hurricane, so that no one is left behind. Join us:

Date: Friday, April 30th

Time: 8am-2pm

Food: Lunch will be provided

Needed: 100 volunteers

  • Volunteer Role A: Roleplay as a volunteer supporting City-Assisted Evacuation.
  • Volunteer Role B: Roleplay as a CAE user, to help test hurricane response plans.

Getting Involved:

  1. Click here to create a volunteer profile, or log in.
  2. Click here to sign up!

Thank you, and we hope to see you there!
