The
Wilson Center's Science
and Technology Innovation Program (STIP) is seeking internship
applications for the Fall 2020 semester. Internships with STIP are designed
to provide the opportunity for practical experience in science and
technology in an environment that successfully combines scholarship with
public policy. Interns will gain valuable experience in various projects
including publication research and preparation, academic research, and
administrative assignments in support of both STIP and Wilson Center
activities. We recommend exploring our website first to determine if your
research interests align with current STIP programming, such as 5G,
AI, and the development of serious

We
offer two types of internships: graduate-level research and
undergraduate-level research internships. All internships are remote for
fall 2020. Internships are unpaid unless otherwise stated. The deadline to
apply is August 16,
2020.
Application Process
For all
internships, please submit all application materials to Erin Rohn at Erin.Rohn@wilsoncenter.org.
Please specify in the subject line the intended time period for your
internship with [SEMESTER] [YEAR] Internship e.g. “FALL 2020 Internship”.
If there is a specific topic area or project, please note that in the
subject line of the email, e.g. 'FALL 2020 Internship for Digital Futures
Project' or otherwise clearly state the focus points in the cover letter.
Due to
the sheer volume of applications we receive, only those candidates selected
for interviews will be contacted. To ensure your consideration, please
submit only a completed application.
A
completed application will have the following materials, compiled into a
single PDF.
- Cover
letter explaining your interest in STIP, including dates and
availability and confirmation that you can serve in DC
- CV/Resume
- A brief
writing sample ideally demonstrating your work in science and
technology research.

The
Wilson Center’s Science and Technology Innovation Program (STIP) brings
foresight to the frontier. The Program examines emerging technologies
through vital conversations, making science policy accessible to everyone
-- not just scientists. The modern era is defined by exponential leaps in
scientific understanding and technological breakthroughs. But the potential
impacts of these breakthroughs – in research, in policy, in society – are
not always clear. We analyze and translate how emerging technologies will
impact international relations, from cybersecurity to artificial
intelligence to Big Data. We equip decision-makers and the public with the
tools to help understand advancements in science and technology. From
hack-a-thons to seminar series for Congressional staff, our goal is to help
communicate complex policy topics in an engaging, accessible way. Science
policy is not just for scientists. STIP engages with audiences from middle
school classrooms to the Hill to help educate and inform the American people
about leading issues in public policy. We value science that is
experiential and participatory, whether captured through citizen science or
serious games.
