In light of COVID-19
and previous outbreaks of other zoonotic diseases that pass between animals and
humans (Examples: SARS, MERS, HIV Aids, Ebola, Zika etc), leaders at the recent
June 11-13, 2021 G7 Summit in Cornwall, England endorsed “strengthening a ‘One Health’
approach across all aspects of pandemic prevention and preparedness.”
There is an emerging
need for a better understanding of what One Health is all about. The One Health
Commission and The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, in
partnership with the Wilson Center and the Smithsonian's National Museum of
Natural History, are collaborating to host a public educational webinar series
that will answer the questions:
What do I need to know about One
Health?
Why do I need to know it? Why is
it so important?
And what can I do about
it?”
