Coordinator for Long Hollow District Sentenced for Embezzlement from
Tribe
A Sisseton, South Dakota, woman, who was convicted of
Embezzlement and Theft from a Tribal Organization, was sentenced to
two years of probation and ordered to pay restitution in the amount
of $23,000. She was also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to
the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Man Sentenced
for Conning Summer Food Service Program Out of $2.3 Million
A Dallas man who scammed the U.S. Department of
Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program out of more than $2.3
million was sentenced to a year and a half in federal prison. He was
indicted in August 2018 and pleaded guilty in July 2022 to summer
food service program fraud.

Obtains $607,284 Crop Insurance False Claims Act Judgment Against
Washington State Farm Owner
The United States successfully obtained a $607,284
fraud judgment against a Washington state farm owner for submitting
false and fraudulent claims for crop insurance for farm businesses
that he owned. The federal crop insurance program provides a
mechanism through which participating farm owners may obtain monetary
subsidies and financial protection against losses to their crops.
