International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction Friday, October 13, 2023

International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction

Friday, 13 October, will mark the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR). This year’s theme of “fighting inequality for a resilient future” aims to highlight the role of inequality as both a driver of disaster risk and as a consequence of disasters.

Among the day’s commemorative events, UNDRR will be releasing the results of the 2023 Global Survey on Persons with Disabilities and Disasters, which is the first global look at how persons with disabilities perceive current national and local disaster risk reduction measures since 2013.

Governments, partner organizations, and the public are invited to mark the IDDRR any way they can, including by using any of UNDRR’s social media assets, under the hashtags:
                                           #BreakTheCycle #DRRDay.

If an event is planned, please be sure to send us information on your event to be included on the global IDDRR calendar.
