"Grasping at straws". Southern Poverty Law Center indicted on federal fraud charges. April 22, 2026

News entities have informants to get inside information.  I’m sure all pay those for information whether valid or erroneous.

Is the current ‘gang’ administration grasping at straws to ruin credibility and trust of a vital nonprofit organization with its’ funders? 

Misdirection.  H-1B visas are an issue not being focused on, especially when one nation with individuals with the highest number of H-1B visas come from____, and service many of the most critical infrastructure sector.  Conservative views, arranged marriages, highly professional.  That has not been a focus of any immigration or ICE concerns.

The Justice Department alleges the civil rights group defrauded donors by using their money to fund the very extremism it claimed to be fighting, with more than $3 million paid to informants through a now-defunct program to infiltrate white supremacist and other extremist groups. Prosecutors allege some of the money was used by extremists to carry out other crimes, but court papers did not include specific examples.
