Youth Preparedness Council LogoTime is running out! Applications for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Youth Preparedness Council (YPC) close on March 31 at 11:59 p.m. PST.

Teens from across the nation have the opportunity to make a difference in their communities by joining the YPC. Young people on the council work to better their emergency preparedness skills to help ensure readiness and recovery in their own neighborhoods and beyond. All students in grades 8-11, who have engaged in community service or are interested in being an ambassador for emergency preparedness, are encouraged to apply.

Are you an adult working with youth or emergency management? Share the application with those you believe might be interested in applying today. Applicants must submit a completed application form, two letters of recommendation, and academic records.

Applications are accepted until 11:59 p.m. PST on March 31, 2017.

CERT Webinar: San Francisco Neighborhood Emergency Response Team uses Twitter to Save Lives

On Wednesday, April 5, 2017, FEMA’s Individual and Community Preparedness Division in partnership with the San Francisco Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT) invites you to join the ”Using Twitter to save lives” training event. Members of the San Francisco NERT will share information on how volunteers can use Twitter during a disaster. This includes how to quickly report and verify the most critical information within a 140-character limit.  The team will also teach you how to gather and report information which can reduce the number of emergency calls to 911 to help make sure every call gets through to a response operator.

April 2017. Register for Diplomacy Lab Career Fair and Wonk Tank Competition Finals



The Secretary's Office of Global Partnerships at The U.S. Dept. of State will be hosting their 2nd Annual Diplomacy Lab Career Fair and Wonk Tank Competition!

University students are invited to meet with federal offices and outside organizations in the foreign policy and international development spheres who will be sharing internship, fellowship, and career opportunities for students and recent grads!

The event will take place April 7th from 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
at the U.S. Dept. of State’s Marshall Center.

Institutions from across the Diplomacy Lab university network will showcase their work with the Department of State in the "University Marketplace." Additionally, three student aspiring foreign policy wonks will take the stage infront of a panel of State Department officials for a chance to win a paid summer internship with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
