Webinar - Beyond COVID19: Health security preparedness and risk management for improved resilience

Please join this second webinar of the Making Cities Resilient 2030 (MCR2030) series Building Resilient Urban Systems (in English with simultaneous French & Spanish interpretation)

To register, please click here           Or scan this QR code:

The webinar, led by the World Health Organization (WHO) in partnership with the United Nations Office of Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), will focus on the fact that cities are central to building health security preparedness and resilience. Municipalities can learn from the systematic impact of the COVID19 pandemic, and the array of complex risks often experienced during disasters and health emergencies. It is critical to integrate risk management and health security preparedness considerations into city planning and financing processes, allowing stakeholders to collaborate to reduce these risks. This webinar will explore building health security preparedness and resilience through first-hand experiences and expert analysis.

This Building Resilient Urban Systems webinar series is linked to the High-Level Meeting of the Midterm Review of the Sendai Framework taking place this month at the UN General Assembly. The Meeting is set to highlight health security preparedness as an important element of DRR at the urban and sub-national level.

The MCR2030 global partnership has mobilized more than 1,520 local governments, representing over 482 million people in 76 countries and territories. It is committed to strengthening disaster and climate resilience at the sub-national level. Twenty-one of these municipalities are recognized as Resilience Hubs – global leaders in disaster risk reduction. The initiative has also mobilized national governments, international organizations, private sector enterprises, academic organizations, and NGOs. MCR2030 is a ‘who’s who’ of partners with unmatched expertise and experience of supporting greater urban resilience.

The 15 Richest Black Families in the USA 2023.

15 wealthiest black families in America in 2023. The United States is considered the land of opportunity for millions around the world, the idea that no matter who you are, what color your skin is, or what religion you practice, anyone can achieve " the American dream" has traveled all over the world. However, internally this might be a whole other story. In America, the average black family is only one-tenth as wealthy as the average white family. Black Americans controlled zero point 5 percent of the nation's wealth in 18 63. For nearly the same fraction of the whole population, it is a little over 1.5 percent today. The presumption of progress following the abolition of slavery and the victories of civil rights has largely obscured the root of that stalemate. But for every advancement made by black Americans, those in positions of authority devised new forms of discrimination that were largely hidden from view and repeatedly sabotaged the economic promise of freedom.
Of the 724 billionaires in the United States, only 7 seven are black.

This huge discrepancy perfectly exemplifies the scale of income inequality in the United States.

Today we’re going to be breaking down the 15 wealthiest black families in the United States and of course as you’d expect the power of “celebrity” is a great forte for wealth generation in black America.
