The Eno Center for Transportation (Eno) will present its recently completed paper on the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen). NextGen is a comprehensive overhaul of our National Airspace System, replacing an aging ground-based radar system, with a satellite/GPS based system. With a continuous roll-out of improvements and upgrades, NextGen has the potential to guide and track air traffic with more precision and efficiency, reducing congestion, fuel consumption, noise and pollution.  This paper breaks new ground by providing a realistic assessment of the potential costs and benefits of NextGen and a discussion of possible funding options. The presentation of the Eno NextGen paper will be followed by a response to the paper and a discussion of NextGen issues by a panel of top experts from the government and the aviation industry. The Veterans Technology Program is a non-credit certificate program offered by the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University. This program is available to both employed and unemployed, post 9/11 veterans with a minimum of a high school diploma, and is comprised of four certificates, VET 1: Career Skills for Global Enterprises, VET 2: Microsoft Office Fundamentals, VET 3: Applied Education, and VET 4: Applied Practicum.

By participating in this program, Veterans have the ability to:

• Receive an overview of various information technology or operations industries, including a number of career paths.
• Create a development plan specific to personal skill-sets, interests, and goals
• Gain an understanding and insight into the corporate culture of globally distributed companies – including effective communication, decision making, and conflict management.

Do you think you should have to give up your Facebook password to get a job? Thankfully, the Maryland Senate doesn’t either and has voted in favor of a bill to stop employers from asking for social media passwords. Now, ask your Delegates to protect your privacy and to support the social media privacy bill. TAKE ACTION Dear ACLU Supporter, Remember Officer Robert Collins? Last year, the ACLU of Maryland represented a man who had to turn over his private Facebook password during an interview with the Department of Corrections. Officer Collins was being recertified after taking a leave of absence when his mother died. The ACLU told the Department of Corrections that the privacy rights of Officer Collins and his friends on Facebook were violated. After a huge public outcry, the DOC revised its policy, but it didn’t go far enough. We need you to tell your Delegates to support the social media privacy bill. Now, job candidates have to sign a form saying that they understand it is “voluntary” for them to provide access to their social media accounts during interviews. The DOC said job candidates would log on to their social media accounts and review the sites along with interviewers, instead of giving DOC their login and password information. Would that make you feel better? That’s why the ACLU is championing passage of a bill to prohibit employers from asking for personal user names and passwords or other means of accessing a private account. Take action: Ask your Maryland Delegates to protect your privacy! Help us put a stop to this gross infringement of privacy before the invasive practice spreads to other employers.
