V-0011
- Virtual Tabletop Exercise Series (VTTX) – Fixed Facility - Hazardous Material
(HAZMAT)
Emmitsburg, MD — You
are subscribed to EMI News for FEMA. This following information has recently
been updated, and is now available on http://training.fema.gov/EMI/
Exercise Description:
This exercise is the
eleventh in a series of 12 Virtual Tabletop Exercises (VTTX) that will be
offered monthly by the Emergency Management Institute (EMI). The VTTX involves
key personnel discussing simulated scenarios in an informal setting, and can be
used to assess plans, policies, training, and procedures. This VTTX differs
from other Tabletop exercises in that it will be conducted using
Video-Teleconference (VTC) technology (not web-based), and is intended to
provide an opportunity for responders across the nation to simultaneously
participate in a hazard-specific facilitated discussion. Lead facilitation for
the exercise will be coordinated by EMI, with local facilitation provided by
the participating agency. This format will allow the common delivery of
exercise materials, scenarios, modules, and discussion questions among those
participating in the exercise. New to the VTTX program is the addition of an
After-Action Report/Improvement Plan (AAR/IP) template for completion by the
participating organization. Read more...*IMPORTANT DATA FOR ALL VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS*

*Comment:** Someone has gone to a lot of trouble. If this helps one
person, then it was worthwhile. Please pass this on to all Veterans on you
e-mail list.*
*Below are web-sites that provide information on Veterans benefits and how
to file/ask for them. Accordingly, there are many sites that explain how to
obtain books, military/medical records, information and how to appeal a
denied claim with the VA. Please pass this information on to every Veteran
you know. Nearly 100% of this information is free and available for all
veterans, the only catch is: you have to ask for it, because they won't
tell you about a specific benefit unless you ask for it. You need to know
what questions to ask so the right doors open for you and then be ready to
have an advocate who is willing to work with and for you, stay in the
process, and press for your rights and your best interests.*

Hurricane
Preparedness for Coastal and Inland Communities
Tuesday, May 21,
2013
3:00 p.m. EDT
Join us at 3:00 p.m. EDT
on May 21 for a discussion of hurricane preparedness
activities in coastal and inland communities.
Hurricanes can cause catastrophic damage
not just to coastlines, but also several hundred miles inland. Hurricanes often
produce winds exceeding 155 miles, tornado outbreaks and severe flooding. Know
how to be ready. Know how to be prepared.
As a lead-in to National Hurricane Week
(May 26 to June 1), FEMA will be hosting a free webinar featuring FEMA’s
Federal Coordinating Officer (FCO), Michael F. Byrne, who will discuss
hurricane preparedness lessons from Superstorm Sandy. In addition, the National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will provide an outlook of the 2013
hurricane season.
Local emergency response personnel will
also present innovative ways and promising practices to engage coastal and
inland communities in hurricane preparedness activities. These speakers will
highlight important effective local preparedness initiatives.
