Community Imperative: 2020 COVID-19, Climate Change, and Beyond

Community Imperative overrides
    Corporate Imperative
    Financial Imperative

Seek the meaning to determine the importance.

What is 'ESG'?   Goggle it to fully understand.

Sustainable Finance
Conscious capitalism

The so-called ESG business space is currently reckoned to be worth more than some $32tn. The FT’s Gillian Tett explains that companies are realising they cannot afford to ignore issues like climate change, income inequality and a whole range of governance questions. Investors are also saying they want more than just profits. Some may call it greenwashing, but conscious capitalism is definitely on the rise.

Operation COVID-19. Transportation Overview. May 17, 2020

National

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) o Over the last seven days (May 08-14), air travel passenger counts have risen to an average of 197,000 per day (a 101% increase) compared to the average of 98,000 per day in April. FEMA Region IX (May 15)

National Business Emergency Operation Center (NBEOC) o Transportation forecasts for July inbound capacity are expected to be revised as the economy restarts and there are fewer cancellations; however, analysts note that a stalled restart of the economy may depress container imports even further. NBEOC (May 16)

Food & Drug Administration (FDA) o Update: Beginning May 18, the FDA will change the hours for the COVID-19 Industry Hotline
(1.888.INFO.FDA, press *). The Hotline will operate from Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to midnight (0800-0000) on weekends and holidays.

For urgent inquiries, dial 1.866.300.4374 to reach the FDA Emergency Line after-hours. FDA

Operation COVID-19. CDC has released Six Decision Trees, May 2020

National

As of May 15, CVS Health has opened more than 50 COVID-19 test sites at select CVS Pharmacy drive-thru locations across Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania

The opening of additional test sites across the country will be announced over the next two weeks. CVS Health expects to have up to 1,000 locations across the country offering this service by the end of May, with the goal of processing up to 1.5 million tests per month subject to availability of supplies and lab capacity.

The company currently operates large-scale rapid test sites in coordination with the five states, which can process a total of nearly 30,000 tests per week. CVS Health

The CDC has released six “decision trees” aimed at helping businesses, communities, schools, camps, daycares and mass transit decide on whether it’s safe to reopen. (See links below for more information)

COVID-19 and Beyond. What if your community had a volunteer FIRE\EMS Station for YOUR Community?

  • What if your community had a volunteer Fire/EMS Station composed of members (high school to adult) of your community?
  • Would they be qualified?
  • Anywhere in the U.S.?
  • Is DHS\FEMA funding available to establish a volunteer Fire\EMS Station?

New jobsite restrictions for California construction contractors enacted. May 15, 2020

Client Alert: New jobsite restrictions for California construction contractors enacted
California Allows Construction Work During the COVID-19 Crisis but Imposes New Restrictions

The good news for the construction industry in California is that the State of California and many of its counties have now designated the construction industry as an "Essential Business" for COVID-19 purposes, allowing contractors in California to ply their trade in nearly all facets of the construction industry–if they choose to do so.

Still, the construction industry has not been liberated entirely from the legal burdens of COVID-19. Rather than ban particular types of construction work, the new strategy for California lawmakers is to issue sets of jobsite restrictions that govern how the contractors perform their work.

For a discussion of new rules applicable to the construction industry in California, please click the link below.
