Accepting Nominations for the 2023 MRC Recognition Awards! Due by Wednesday, March 1, at 5:00 pm ET

We are now accepting nominations for the 2023 MRC Recognition Awards! Please review the award categories and nomination instructions below to submit a nomination.

2023 MRC Recognition Awards Nomination Form is attached. All nominations are due no later than Wednesday, March 1, at 5:00 pm ET. As a reminder, anyone within the MRC network may serve as a nominator and there are no limits to the number of nominations that you may submit. If you have any questions, please contact MRCcontact@hhs.gov. We look forward to receiving your nominations, and are excited to recognize all that you do to prepare for and respond to the needs of your communities!


Nomination Instructions

To submit a nomination for the 2023 MRC Recognition Awards, please follow the instructions below:

  • Complete all applicable fields in the attached 2023 MRC Recognition Awards Nomination Form.
  • Send completed nomination forms to MRCContact@hhs.gov by the closing date and time of Wednesday, March 1, at 5:00 pm ET.
  • Include only one nomination per email with the award category in the subject line of the email and the nomination form attached (e.g., Community Preparedness and Resilience)

2023 Award Categories

Community Preparedness and Resilience – The Community Preparedness and Resilience Award will honor an MRC unit that has demonstrated contributions at the community level aimed at reducing vulnerabilities, building resilience, and improving public health preparedness. This award category applies to all activities and unit efforts over the past year.

 

Community Response – This Community Response Award will honor an MRC unit that has significantly contributed to disaster or public health emergency response efforts in the last year, including at the local, state, and/or national level. Recognized units may have participated in a variety of emergency response activities throughout the year and/or contributed significantly to a single response effort.

 

Innovator – The Innovator Award will honor an MRC unit that has initiated and carried out a novel and innovative activity over the past year that has helped build on MRC unit and housing organization efforts, engaged unit volunteers in the process, and contributed to strengthening the community’s public health, preparedness, and response infrastructure. This award category applies to all activities and unit efforts over the past year.

 

Outstanding MRC Preparedness and Resilience Volunteer – The Outstanding MRC Preparedness and Resilience Volunteer Award will honor an MRC volunteer who has been actively engaged in carrying out disaster and public health preparedness activities with their MRC during the past year. This award category applies to all activities and volunteer efforts over the past year.

 

Outstanding MRC Responder – The Outstanding MRC Responder Award will honor an MRC volunteer who has played an instrumental role in responding to a disaster or public health emergency on behalf of their MRC during the past year. This award category applies to all activities and volunteer efforts over the past year.

 

Mentor – The Mentor Award will honor an MRC leader who has successfully collaborated with other members of the MRC network over the past year to share practices, participate in activities, and carry out initiatives that have strengthened individual and collective groups of MRC units.

 

Outstanding MRC Housing/Sponsoring Organization – The Outstanding MRC Housing/ Sponsoring Organization Award will honor an MRC Housing/Sponsoring Organization that has served as an exemplary host agency to their MRC and have successfully supported and helped integrate the MRC into their local community's public health, preparedness, and response infrastructures.

 

Outstanding MRC Partner Organization (or Partnership) – The Outstanding MRC Partner Organization Award will honor an MRC Partner Organization (or Partnership) that has helped support an MRC in carrying out its local mission and has provided the MRC with more opportunities to participate in public health, preparedness, and response activities. The exemplary partner has played a role in helping to raise MRC awareness and foster MRC integration into the local community’s public health, preparedness, and response infrastructure.

 

MRC Picture of the Year – The MRC Picture of the Year Award will highlight a photograph of MRC volunteers in action at public health, response, training, or other events. The words Medical Reserve Corps or the MRC logo should be clearly visible and displayed correctly.

Submissions should be in .jpg or .gif format and have a minimum resolution of 640x480. The submission must include the MRC unit name and ID number, unit leader’s name, photographer’s name, and a detailed caption for the photograph in the Award Nomination Narrative. Photo releases for the individuals in the picture must be held by the unit submitting the photograph for recognition.
